Using an ATM is arguably the easiest and the most economical of all the options when it comes to money and spending with respect to a vacation in Oaxaca, Mexico. However, a bit of planning is advised before the trip begins, and some organization during one’s Mexican adventure.
Pre-Planning for Using an ATM for Withdrawing Money in Oaxaca
ATMs in Oaxaca rarely “eat” credit and withdrawal cards. In two decades of this writer’s regular withdrawals, only once has a card been lost this way. However, on one other occasion the card stayed in the machine, but was retrieved a couple of days later at the main downtown bank branch.
If two cards can be taken along for the trip to Oaxaca, one for each spouse / partner, or duplicates for one person, or cards for two bank accounts, that would deal with the slim possibility of being without access to an ATM and cash even for a day or two.
